Lance Wicks Graduates with Judo Degree

New Zealand judoka Lance Wicks recently graduated with an Honours Degree in Sports Performance from the University of Bath in the UK. The conclusion of the five year study course also saw him obtain a European Judo Union Elite Performance Coach Award - Level 5.

Chris Purcell

purcellcIt is with deep sadness that JNZ announces the peaceful passing of Chris Purcell on Sunday 2 August after a brief illness.

Chris was the Vice-Chairman of the JNZ Board of Directors and the JNZ Sports Director. He has contributed greatly to JNZ, Wellington Area, and Wainuiomata YMCA Judo Club over a long period, and both he and his tireless contribution will be greatly missed.

Jason Koster's Brazilian Experience - Judo that is!

On the 30th June I traveled to Brazil to compete in the Grand Slam and World Cup events held in Rio De Janeiro and Belo Horizonte respectively. Both these tournaments offered World Ranking points and an opportunity to fight some of the best in the world.
