Congratulations to all nominees. A full report follows;

The highlight for Judo Canterbury was Can Am Ju winning the Canterbury Sports Club of the Year award. This was a reflection of the great achievements at national and international level of the club members during 2014, something made possible by the high standards of the club and supported by Judo Canterbury initiatives.

Both Jason and Moira’s achievements at the Commonwealth Games were highlighted several times during the evening by the MC.  This was fabulous to hear, give the strong competition for the awards, with other nominees including Richie McCaw, The Crusaders, Gary Hay from NZ Rowing's high-performance team and Anton Cooper, winner of Gold at the Commonwealth Games Mountain Biking.

Liz Crosbie, a long standing member of Can Am Ju who has been the stalwart of Judo Canterbury and long-serving member of Judo NZ was recognised for her outstanding work.  Liz started Judo in the 1950s and her career has seen her compete as a New Zealand representative, officiate at many international Judo events and hold both Canterbury and National positions.

Overall, an outstanding result for Judo in Canterbury.  Well done to all those nominated, those making the finalist list and to Canterbury Club of the Year 2015 – Can Am Ju.
