1. Bunny’s Funeral
Jim McPhee attended Bunny’s funeral service in August 2007 on behalf of Judo NZ and passed on condolences to Ede and family from the Executive Board, Management Board and the members of Judo NZ
The Seddon Park Funeral Centre was packed with standing room only for a number of those who had gathered to
celebrate Bunny’s life.
Graeme Fair spoke on behalf of WBOP.
Other Judo people in attendance included: Tony Wannan, Kevin Kavanagh & Bob (Allard) Mitchell from
Tauranga; Derek Maggs, Greg McDonnell, Nina Kolotilina, (Henkada); Richard Tarrant, Troy Dekkers and his parents,
Tin Pavlinic and his parents; Hamish Rees & Mark Nasmith (Te Awamutu) and Rick Littlewood (University).
2. Jan Bjorkman, 5th Dan—passed away on Friday, 30 November 2007 at Malmoe University Hospital, Sweden after a short respiratory illness.
Jan had been a long time General Secretary of the Swedish Judo Federation, a respected competitor in the 60’s and 70’s and was also skilled in kata. He was an international referee with a World Championship under his belt and had long served the Swedish Federation.
3. Antonio Matias—well known as the Portuguese Coach for a number of years passed away on the 5th of January 2008.
