On the 21st of November, the new President of the International Judo Federation, Mr Marius L Vizer was invited by the President of the

International Olympic Committee, Mr Jaques Rogge to a meeting in Lausanne at the headquarters of the IOC.

 

During this meeting, the following topics were discussed:

 

Youth Olympic Games

President Rogge was congratulated in the name of the IJF for this great initiative.

 

Decision of the 2007 Rio Congress

Through which it was ordained that in a Congress only national federations that are active and which are recognised by the National Olympic Committee of their country can vote.

 

Judo for Peace

The initiative has been taken to make the Judo for Peace Programme on an international level.

 

Judo Yearly Calendar starting 2009

During the meeting, the IJF President, Mr Marius L Vizer presented the new competition plan which will begin in 2009 that includes a World Championship for Seniors and Juniors every year, four Grand Slams with 150,000 Prize Money every year and Four-Five Grand Prix with $100,000 prize money each year as well as one World Masters Tournament every year with $200,000 prize month.

 

New Marketing Strategy

The new marketing strategy of the International Judo Federation was also discussed.

 

In closing, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Jaques Rogge appreciated the new initiatives of the International Judo Federation and wished the IJF great successes in the implementation of all proposed objectives.
