Congress Weekend 14-16 December 2007 Text Box: The Executive Board, Management Board and Congress met a couple of weeks before Christmas in Auckland and the following are highlights from the meeting. SPARC has confirmed that it will fund the Federation over the next 12 months and expect to receive a $87,000 between now and the end of October 2008 based on a requirement that we increase our membership, increasing and approve the quality of our coaches and implement on-line registration system, implement on-line tournament entry systems and implement the on-line updating of club data. The requirements of WADA and Drug Free Sports NZ have been incorporated into the Federation’s Bylaws and are mandatory on all athletes and participants of Judo. All Areas have been sent copies of this documentation and Clubs, Coaches and Instructors should make themselves very familiar with the requirements. The Sporting Code on the website has been removed until the updated version can be put there and you will expect this shortly. 2008 Calendar—A hard copy of that will be distributed to all Clubs shortly and it is up on the website. Some of these SPARC funding will be used to update and modernize the NZJF website. The idea is that the website would be the prime means of communication both with Club members and the outside world. We will also expect merchandise to be available for sales through the website. Referees are authorized to wear polo shirts in refereeing Children’s categories at future National Championships. The Federation is putting forward a remit to the next Oceania Congress that the number of members from any one country to be permitted on the Executive should be increased from two to three and anticipating the approval of that remit, we have nominated David Browne for the vacancy position of Vice President and Brent Cooper to the vacant position of Treasurer.
