“do or not do - there is no try”
Considerations For Our "Minority" Sport
Monday, 13 September 2010 10:11

The IJF announced prior to the 2010 Senior World Championships the affiliation of the 200th national judo federation to the international body. In addition, 111 of these countries competed at this year's World Championships, which had in excess of 800 competitors (restricted to 2 per country in each category).

Some interesting comparisons can be drawn. FIFA (world soccer federation) lists 207 member nations, FISA (world rowing) 130, IRB (rugby) 95, netball 25, and rugby league 17.

This year's world rowing champs have entries from 50 countries, next years rugby and netball world cups are restricted to 20 and 16 respectively. Puts a new spin on "minority"!
